The key to innovations in the roller manufacturing process is that it is driven by the properties
required by the final product.
It involves being able to produce this product with all the desired features in the most
economical way.
Let’s look at these. Firstly the rubber compound.
This must be specifically formulated to suit its final use; if it is an offset compound, is it to
be used for sheetfed, web, heatset, what are the inks needed, chemicals, speed and so on. Properties
to be examined are:
- Resistance to inks
- Resistance to washes
- Compatibility with fountain solutions
- Oleophobic Damper metering rollers
- Hydrophilic damper form rollers
- Cool running, minimal hysteresis loss
- Dimensionally stable over long periods
- Stable hardness
- Consistent and surface roughness to carry optimum ink and water.
With so many years experience in roller manufacture we have been able to install a process to
produce consistent results accurately and efficiently. |
